Pocátky - Villa

In the quiet hill country of Vysočina, five kilometres from Počátky, five buildings are spread across 5,000 m² of garden. Two ponds, lit terraces, a pétanque court and a pool in a glass pavilion that is open all year.

Of the three villas on the estate, this is the middle one in size and the most sociable of the three. 180 m² for eight people, with a kitchen where somebody thought hard about what happens when eight people go on holiday together for a week. There are three dishwashers, and the kitchen island has a beer tap. That same island has two sinks, two induction hobs and wireless charging built into the worktop. Beside it stands an American fridge with an ice maker. The dining table is a solid slab of teak and mango that seats ten.

The bedrooms are fairly shared out. Two downstairs, both with a double bed and their own shower and toilet. One of them has an extra single bed. The third is upstairs, also en suite, along with a playroom that has another bed.

The games room is where the evenings end. There is a billiard table, a table football game, an electronic dartboard on the wall and a casino screen for blackjack, with chips and cards. Upstairs there is a private hydro massage bath and a massage chair. The terrace is 40 m², big enough to seat eight for dinner.

The sauna, the four whirlpools, the swim spa with counter-current and a stainless steel hot tub for six are out on the estate, as is a summer kitchen with a grill and bar that seats twenty. Genuine therapists come to the two ayurvedic centres on request.

There is wifi, a washing machine and a dryer, and insect screens on every window. You park at the door, with a charging point for an electric car. Two dogs are welcome.

The surroundings are made for days without a plan. The cycle path between Žirovnice and Počátky runs past the house, and seven kilometres away lies Valcha pond, where you can swim in summer and which has a recreation area alongside it. You shop in Počátky, five kilometres, where there is a Penny Market, a COOP and a few village restaurants. For the big shop you drive to Pelhřimov or Jindřichův Hradec, both around twenty-five kilometres away.

Anyone who does want to get out has plenty to choose from. The Popelín brewery near Studená is 9 kilometres away and runs tours. In Žirovnice, also 9 kilometres, there is a castle with a mother-of-pearl museum and a brewery of its own. The Museum of Records and Curiosities in Pelhřimov is exactly the kind of place where you stay longer than you meant to. Jindřichův Hradec has a historic narrow-gauge railway, and the aquapark there is a lifesaver on a rainy day. Telč and its UNESCO square are twenty kilometres away, and anyone who wants to golf can play the course at Telč or the one at Mnich.

Available separately or together. The ayurvedic villa for ten (VPPA213), the group villa for eight (VPVI211) and the small villa for four (VPRO212) can each be booked on their own. If you want the whole estate to yourselves, you rent the complete resort for twenty people (VPRE210).
